La Chorrera - Tallest waterfall in Colombia

La Chorrera falls

The La Chorrera waterfall is the tallest falls in Colombia, located just outside of Bogota. It is easily reachable by bus.

You can take the bus to Choachí (near the Tercer Milenio Transmilenio station) and ask the driver to drop you off at the turnoff to the falls.

From the turnoff it's about a 6km walk through scenic farmland to the end of the road and the beginning of the trail.

At the beginning of the trail, you can explore the smaller, yet still pretty, El Chifón falls. The El Chifón trail is a relatively easy 20 minute round trip.

From the El Chifón falls it's about 2.5 to 3 hours round trip to LA Chorrera. The trail heads through farmland before heading up into the mountains.

The trail becomes very steep through thick rainforest but it well marked.

There are several trails which lead to several lookouts that give you many different views of the falls.
